Biography
Dr. Lagueruela is currently a dedicated Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologist. He previously served as Medical Director of the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital, Operating room, a position he held for 11 years. Prior to arriving to Nicklaus Children's Hospital in 1993 he was a Clinical Associate Professor at Washington University Medical School, Department of Anesthesiology in St. Louis, Missouri. He also served as Director of Cardiac Anesthesia and the Interim Chief of the Department of Anesthesia at St. Louis Children’s Hospital of Washington University. He was instrumental in developing the Heart and Heart/Lung transplant program at St. Louis Children’s Hospital with renowned cardiac surgeons Dr. James Tweddell and Dr. Thomas Spray. He has extensive experience in heart and heart/lung transplantation at Washington University. Dr. Lagueruela completed dual residency training programs in Pediatrics and Anesthesiology at St. Louis Children's Hospital and Barnes Hospital respectively. Moreover, Dr. Lagueruela successfully completed a Pediatric Anesthesia Critical Care Fellowship at St. Louis Children's Hospital. He is double boarded in Pediatrics and Anesthesia and has more than twenty-five years of experience in the perioperative care of critically ill infants and children.
