Biography
Dr Quazi Zaman has held various teaching and researching posts since 1992, including: Post-Doctoral Fellow, Hong Kong University (2000-2002) Visiting Post-Doctoral Fellow, Oxford Brookes University (2001) Research Assistant, Hong Kong University (1998-2000) Research Assistant, OMA Asia and GSD Harvard University (1996) Associate Professor, BRAC University (2002-2007)
Research Interest
Dr Zaman's research and teaching centre on the subject of urban design and architectural manifestation in the urban context, focusing on new urbanism, regionalism and regeneration, the healthy city by urban design, vertical urbanism, emerging new versus traditional urbanism in Asia, the mega-city (a new mode of production of space and theorizing urban congestions project), child-centred urbanism, and a public realm interface study. In addition, he has also served in the World Bank's 'Doing Business' research project (2002-2008) and was a consultant for the World Bank-assisted Entrepreneur, International Finance and Facilities Centrein Bangladesh (2004-2008), where he generated a number of urban design and development guidelines for Private-Public Partnership projects, significantly for the International Trade Centre. Besides his teaching career, he has extensive architectural and urban design consultancy experience in Hong Kong and Bangladesh.
