Biography

John Shields is a highly experienced, dynamic business professional with a wide experience in leadership, strategy, business development, commercial/ operational management and trouble shooting. His experience over 25 years spans a variety of sectors in Lifesciences including pharmaceuticals, vaccines and biotech/medtech. David also has extensive international experience of mergers and acquisitions, fund raising and investor relations. John Shields was instrumental in the formation of Synpromics and led the initial seed fundraising rounds of the company. David is a highly experienced Director including Acambis plc, where he was CFO, and several privately backed Lifescience companies. He was previously VP - Finance, Business Development and Strategy at Chiron Vaccines where he led the acquisition of Powderject plc (including the subsequent spin-offs of PowderMed and SBL). John Shields brings significant corporate development and finance expertise, including multiple fundraisings, to the Board.
