David Lawrence Mowat

Biography

Mr. David Lawrence Mowat, also known as Dave, has been Chief Executive Officer and President at ATB Financial since June 2007. Mr. Mowat is involved in many facets of financial services. He has more than 25 years experience in financing small business and investing venture capital. Mr. Mowat served as the Chief Executive Officer at Vancouver City Savings Credit Union since March 2000 until 2007 and joined it in 1998. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Vancity Capital Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of City Savings Credit Union for two years. Since September 1999, he was responsible for VanCity's small- and medium-sized business lending activities. Mr. Mowat joined VanCity from Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), where he served as Senior Vice-President of Emerging Markets and Venture Capital and was responsible for venture capital and subordinated debt. He served at BDC since 1979. He served at Vancouver for 15 years. He served at Montreal for five years in various senior executive positions. He serves as the Chairman of Real Assets Investment Management Inc. He served as Chairman of Citizens Bank of Canada since October 2000. In 2014, he was selected by Alberta Venture Magazine as Alberta's Business Person of the Year. Mr. Mowat serves as Vice-Chairman of VISA Canada. He has been Independent Director of TELUS Corporation since May 5, 2016. Mr. Mowat serves as a Director at AltaCorp Capital Inc. and serveral corporate boards. He served as a Director of Central 1 Credit Union and Citizens Bank of Canada. Actively interested in community issues, he is a Director on several non-profit organization, Vancouver Board of Trade; TradeWorks Training Society; BC Technology Social Venture Partners; UBC Commerce Advisory Council; The Dr. Peter Aids Foundation, the Vancouver School Board Foundation and Canada’s Top 40 under 40 Selection Committee
