Biography
Prof Dr. Bashar Zahawi received his BSc and PhD degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Newcastle University, UK, in 1983 and 1988, respectively. Before coming to Khalifa University, Dr Zahawi held academic posts at the University of Manchester (UK) between 1994 and 2003 and Newcastle University (UK) from 2003 until 2014. Prior to his academic positions, he worked as a Design Engineer for a UK manufacturer of large variable speed drives and other power conversion equipment. His research interests include power electronics, power conversion, renewables, small scale generation and the application of nonlinear dynamical methods to electrical circuits and systems.
