Biography

Dr. Khaled Abdel-Motagaly has over 25 years of experience in industry and research institutes including Etihad Airways, Boeing, and NASA in the areas of flight control systems, integrated vehicle health management/prognostics, systems development and verification for spacecraft, commercial airplanes, UAVs, structures dynamics/finite element, and technology development. Khaled recently joined Etihad Airways Engineering as a Manager of Innovation and Technology with emphasis on the areas of health management/prognostics and MRO efficiency innovations. Before joining Etihad he worked at Boeing for 12 years where he was the lead Engineer for 777-X fly-by-wire primary flight control laws development and also worked on the design, development and testing of 787 flight control system from 2005 until the first 787-8 entry into service in 2010 where he was instrumental to the design and development of new control laws for the 787. From 1999 to 2004 Khaled worked as a principle Guidance, Navigation and Controls engineer with Titan Corp supporting the International Space Station program at NASA Johnson Space Center. Khaled holds a PhD Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Old Dominion University in Virginia, USA, and MSc & BSc Degrees in Aerospace Engineering from Cairo University, Egypt. He has over 20 conference and journal publications, two awarded patents and one pending patent application.
