Biography

  With over 10 years of experience practicing acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Canada and the United Arab Emirates, Steven Josephs is highly passionate about functional and integrative medical approaches that honour the concept of holism, which is central to TCM. Steven graduated from the Michener Institute of Health Sciences in Toronto, Canada, after completing an intensive four-year Honours Degree in Acupuncture. With this education, he not only received training in therapeutic acupuncture, but also received training in Chinese herbal medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnostics, while also learning the foundations of Western pharmacology and pathophysiology. Steven’s ability to unveil the perceived mystique that often shrouds this ancient system of medicine makes it more accessible and understandable to Western patients. He has worked alongside a wide range of medical practitioners, and often takes on the role of patient advocate in order to assist his patients navigate the medical system on their journey to wellness. Steven has extensive experience in providing complementary treatment to women undergoing IVF therapy as well as treating various digestive disorders (including irritable bowel syndrome, colitis, and chronic constipation). The range of his practice also extends to the treatment of sports injuries, and the treatment of anxiety, stress and depression. Steven respects the inextricable link between the mind, body and spirit.
