Biography
Dr. Viegas received his BSc and MSc in Optoelectronics and Lasers from the University of Porto, Portugal in 2000 and 2003 respectively. During 2000-2004, he was a lecturer in the physics department of the University of Tras-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Vila Real, Portugal. In May 2010 he received his PhD degree in Physics from the University of Porto on research focused on the design, fabrication and characterization of optical sensors for chemical monitoring. During 2006-2008, he was a visiting researcher at the new nano-optics fabrication laboratories of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, USA.
