Biography

Erik Koornneef is the Senior Director – International Consulting and Research for Truven Health Analytics, an IBM Company. Mr. Koornneef is responsible for overseeing Truven Health Analytics' international government and policy work with a particular focus on the Middle East region, including value-based health initiatives, performance measurement, payment integrity and research into quality improvement. Mr. Koornneef has over 20 year experience in various roles in health and social care. Prior to joining Truven Health Analytics, Mr. Koornneef worked in a number of senior advisory roles for the government of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he was responsible various strategic initiatives, including the establishment of a quality and performance management system for a network of hospitals and the management of quality audits of healthcare facilities. Before moving to the UAE, Mr. Koornneef worked in a variety of senior positions in the public service in Ireland where he was responsible for the development of a set of overarching national standards in health and social care and the implementation of a number of systems to monitor the quality of health care in Ireland. He also worked for a number of years with a large health and social care provider where he successfully implemented a nationally recognized quality system. Mr. Koornneef has served numerous national and international boards and committees, including approval board for the Excellence Ireland Award and ISO Expert Groups. He has also been an expert member and a consultant on a number of a number of Committees of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France. Mr. Koornneef holds a M.Sc. in Health Services Management from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and a M.Sc. in Educational Sciences from the Radboud University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands. In mid 2017, Mr. Koornneef will defend his PhD thesis on the effects of subtle behavioral nudges on compliance with healthcare regulation at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
