Ian Robinson

Biography

 Ian is a Partner in our Electronics & Software team. He specialises in patents for the electronics and computing industries, frequently advising on complex ‘software’ and ‘business method’ type cases.Ian and his team handle large-volume patent filing programs in Europe and internationally on behalf of several global corporations. Ian’s work includes essential advice on global strategy and direction. He has substantial experience in negotiating and concluding patent licensing arrangements (inbound and outbound). Ian advises and supports litigation for clients both domestically and overseas, including particularly patent infringement, validity and opposition cases.In practice since 1990, Ian has contributed to various professional associations, including the Society of Computers and Law (SCL) and the Computer Technology Committee of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA). Ian has been noted for his expertise in electronics in the Legal 500 and is named as a Managing Intellectual Property IP Star in the 2017 directory.
