Scott Howat

Biography

Howat joined the BAE Systems, Inc. leadership team in January 2017 as the senior vice president of Finance. In this role, he is responsible for ensuring that we maintain a strong financial controls environment, a skilled financial management team, and an effective and efficient financial reporting process across the U.S.-based organization. Previously, Howat was with General Dynamics, where he spent more than a decade in a number of accounting, finance and controller positions. Most recently, he served as vice president and CFO for General Dynamics Information Technology, where he led the financial, facilities, security and procurement operations for the business. Prior to his work in the defense sector, Howat spent eight years in the communications industry in various accounting and analyst positions with TriPoint Global Communications and Alcatel. From 1994 to 1997, he garnered several years of experience as an audit professional with Ernst & Young. Howat is a Certified Public Accountant. He received a master’s in business administration from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, and also earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from West Virginia Wesleyan College.
