Biography
Ffion has been lecturing and directing professionally in the theatre industry since 2011. After graduating with a First Class Honours Degree in Drama at Aberystwyth’s University and then on to completing an M.A. in Theatre Directing at St Mary’s University College London, she has trained extensively in a wide variety of context. From vocal developments with coaches from the Royal Shakespeare Company, Director’s from the Young Vic, insights from the Shakespeare Globe, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Complicite, Frantic Assembly and Mike Alfreds, to thorough studies and practice in Stanislavski’s late work, Michael Chekov’s processes, Meisner Technique to Jaques Lecoq’s playfulness study on physicality. Ffion uses her experience and research to continue to explore the physicality, psychology and vocal development of the actor in performance. Interested mainly in contemporary performance practice and training, Ffion has recently worked with Wales’s International Touring Contemporary Opera Company, ‘Music Theatre Wales’, assisting director Michael McCarthy and representing the company as tour director on their National Tour in collaboration with the Welsh Language National Theatre (Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru) on their recent Opera ‘Y TÅ´R’ (The Tower) (original stage play by Gwenlyn Parry) 2017.
Research Interest
She is also interested on the impact of Creativity in the Education and Community Sector and has recently been delivering consultancy work with the Arts Council of Wales (as a Creative Agent on the LEAD CREATIVE SCHOOLS SCHEME) 2016-2018 and previously Associate Director and BRAIN Project Manager for theatre company, Frân Wen (2011-2015).
