Biography
I am a full professor at the School of Computer Science, Bangor University, U.K. I joined Bangor University in 2007 as a Senior Lecturer I was previously a lecturer and then a Senior Lecturer at the University of Kent. I lead the Visualization, Modelling and Graphics Group. I have research expertise in Visual Analytics, Information Visualization, Exploratory Visualization, Multiple Coordinated Views, Virtual Environments and Haptics. Please see my personal page for full details of career, publications and interests. My hypothesis: "By displaying the data in several different ways, and allowing the user to highly interact with it, then the user gains a better understanding of their data". I use alternative representations, multiple coordinated views, and look to move beyond the desktop to use other forms of display and Human-computer interactions (e.g., table top displays and tangible artifacts). I instigated and chaired Coordinated & Multiple View conference series that ran 2003,4,5,6,7 and author of the popular "State of the Art in Coordinated Multiple Views" paper. I run the HeritageTogether project and I am creator of the Five Design Sheet methodology, and joint author of the journal paper Sketching Designs.
Research Interest
I have research expertise in Visual Analytics, Information Visualization, Exploratory Visualization, Multiple Coordinated Views, Virtual Environments and Haptics.
