Biography
I am an applied researcher working at the intersection between arts and social sciences. Currently I am the full time researcher working on the Organ Donation Study evaluating the impact of the new deemed consent act in organ donation in Wales. This important study is one of the many new partnerships and projects currently being set up by the new Wales Kidney Research Unit. Read more here http://organ-donation-project.bangor.ac.uk/. I have a BA in fine art and an MA in ceramics and research methods. This has supported and enhanced my research in designing and developing methods to engage with a wide range of stakeholders. These include, special need teachers, artists, carers, community workers, development officers, academics, scientific researchers, and the NHS. From 2013-2015 I undertook a post doctorate running the Centre for Applied Research in Inclusive Arts and Design, CARIAD in Cardiff Metropolitan University. During this time I developed many new projects working with the third sector, charities, local SME’s and other organisations working with vulnerable groups and in sensitive environments.
Research Interest
My research interests include participatory and inclusive research and design, sustainability through empowerment and co-creation, applied research methods and research design, qualitative and mixed methods, creative communication and the intersection of arts and social sciences.
