Rowena Hughes-jones

Biography

Rowena Hughes-Jones has been lecturer at the School of Education since 2015. Her background is in primary education and she piloted, implemented and supported the Foundation Phase in schools in Gwynedd. Between 2010 and 2012, she was on secondment with CYNNAL in Gwynedd as a Foundation Phase Training Officer. She delivered support to teachers locally, in other counties, and nationally. After a short period back at school, she was appointed Flying Start Support Teacher for Gwynedd and supported nursery groups, crèches and other organizations that offer provision to children in Flying Start areas. She was appointed to the School of Education in 2015 as an Early Years Lecturer, leading modules and contributing to the Foundation Degree (FdA) in Early Childhood Studies and Learning Support and contributing to the teacher training courses (ITET), namely BA Primary Education with QTS and the Postgraduate Certificate in Education course (PGCE). She also contributes to the BA Childhood Studies and Young People course, which enables her to encompass her interest in sociology and effective practices for supporting children.

Research Interest

Her interests include promoting children's personal social skills and child welfare, child development, active learning strategies and promoting positive behaviour.
