Biography

BMI Healthcare is the UK’s largest private hospital group and was formed in 1970, when US hospital group AMI acquired its first hospital in the UK, the Harley Street Clinic, and grew to 13 hospitals by 1988. Between 2007 and present day BMI Healthcare has grown to 59 hospitals and treatment centres in the UK. Today the consortium consists of the group's principal shareholders - Netcare with c53.7%, Apax Partners with c32.1%, and London & Regional (www.lrp.co.uk) with c7.5%. The balance (c6.7%) is held by management and senior staff.
