Biography
I am Professor of Entrepreneurship and Economics. My published research in over 60 peer-reviewed articles, 2 books and a range of book contributions spans Entrepreneurship and Small Business, Regional Economics and Labour Economics. I am currently Vice-Chair of the Economic and Social Research Council’s Capability Committee. I was also elected in 2017 as a board member of the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. I have previously served as a member of the ESRC's Methods and Infrastructure Committee, and the Scientific Advisory Panel of Understanding Society, the UK's household longitudinal survey. Between 2002 and 2012 I was an appointed member of the Welsh Government’s Economic Research Advisory Panel, advising the First Minister of Wales on economic research and policy. I have also been a director of the Wales Management Council. I was elected to Fellowship of the Learned Society of Wales in 2017. I am a Research Fellow of the IZA Institute for Labor, Bonn.
