Dr. Katrina Sharps
Research Associate (Data Analyst and Statistician)
Ecology and Hydrology
Centre for Ecology & Hydrology
United Kingdom
Biography
Her role as a Research Associate at CEH Bangor involves working in a team developing a new smartphone App, which will record incidences of ozone injury to vegetation across Europe. She also assist with the data analysis for a number of projects, for example, determining the impacts of ozone on vegetation and the changes in levels of heavy metals stored in European mosses. Additionally, she work with the ecosystem services modelling tool, InVEST, for example, to investigate water supply and carbon sequestration in the Conwy valley, North Wales. She have a background in ornithology, with her PhD investigating the foraging ecology of a nocturnal, summer migrant to the UK (European nightjar, Caprimulgus europaeus). Field work included radio-tracking tagged birds (dusk until dawn), faecal sample dissection to investigate diet and observation of nest camera footage to determine factors influencing parental behaviour at the nest.
