Biography
Dr. Sutton was appointed Senior Lecturer in International Relations in January 2016. Previously, he has taught at the University of Warwick, the University of St Andrews and Kingston University. He holds a PhD in Politics and International Studies, as well as an MA in International Relations, from the University of Warwick, and an MA(Hons) from the University of St Andrews. My research is interdisciplinary, situated in both International Political Economy and British History. My research to date has focused on twentieth-century British imperialism and how scholars can better understand this topic through a critical reappraisal of imperialism as a theory, and close analysis of specific relationships within the British Empire. I have recently begun work on a new monograph that analyses the ill-fated and catastrophic Groundnut Scheme in post-war Tanganyika. I am also working on a number of papers on the subjects of depoliticisation, satire and British politics, and the Turner thesis.
