Biography
Chris Dancer’s first degree was a BSc in Economics and Social Studies, with a focus on banking and finance. On completing his studies he was recruited to a graduate scheme at Barclays Banks Plc and was based within the retail side of the business. Whilst with Barclays he completed his Chartered Institute of Bankers professional qualifications and undertook a broad range of roles. After seven years within the financial services sector Chris decided to complete a full-time MBA at the University of Southampton. Towards the end of this course he was offered the opportunity of an associate lecture post. This provided his introduction to a career in higher education, and shortly afterwards he was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Financial Services at Southampton Solent University. Chris joined the University of Chichester in February 2002 to lead the development of business and management based subject provision at the University. This proved to be the basis for the current Business School. He is a member of the Higher Education Academy.
Research Interest
Chris’s primary teaching experience is in the field of finance, and he continues to teach the first year Business Decision Making module. However, more recently he has been involved in the collaborative development of learning and teaching modules designed to support the advancement of student employability skills, which focuses in particular on enabling students to articulate the skills and experience that they have developed as effectively as possible.
