Augustine Ifelebuegu

Biography

Augustine has over 19 years’ experience that spans the petroleum industry, water industry and the academia. He is a chartered environmentalist, chartered water and environmental manager and currently a Principal Lecturer in Energy and Environment in the School of Energy, Construction and Environment. His research interest is focused on the following themes; water and wastewater treatment, oil/water separation and spill remediation, enhanced oil recovery, process safety and petroleum management. Prior to joining Coventry University, he was a process design engineer at Severn Trent Water where he was involved in several multi-million pounds’ capital and research projects including the £40M UK DEFRA National Demonstration Programme (NDP) for the removal of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in wastewater treatment plants in England and Wales. As part of the NDP, he was a co-investigator in the Severn Trent £3M Hallam Fields demonstration pilot plants for the removal of EDCs as well as the £2.7M EDCs monitoring in river catchments. He also previously worked for Fugro Consultant, consulting for various multinational Oil & Gas companies in both the upstream and downstream sector. He led and carried out various quality and HSE compliance audits, oil spill monitoring, remediation and environmental studies for some of the largest oil & gas projects in West Africa onshore and offshore environments for Shell Petroleum, ExxonMobil, Addax Petroleum, ChevronTexaco, Total, ENI, Schlumberger, Oildata and ConocoPhillips etc.
