Fabio Carbone

Biography

Italian researcher, his professional career is first and foremost based on a strong humanistic background, characterized by the study of the Greco-Roman World, its languages and literature, philosophy, history and archaeology. Fabio Carbone started as an archaeologist. Later, his interest in Cultural Heritage Management drove him to the area of Heritage Tourism. In the latter area he has successfully completed a Master in Management and Tourism Development (University of Aveiro, 2006) and later - with distinction - a European PhD (University of Aveiro, 2005).  He is Archaeologist and EuropeanPhD in Tourism. His doctoral research focused on Cultural Heritage Quality Management & Tourism, obtained the honorific mention of Doctor Europaeus with distinction. His main research activity focuses on Cultural Heritage Management, Intercultural Dialogue and Tourism as an agent for global understanding and development. After obtaining a specialist qualification in International Relations & Cultural Diplomacy from the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (Berlin, Germany), he has also inaugurated the research line in “International Tourism & Cultural Diplomacy”, thus becoming world pioneer in this field. He is a Lecturer at Coventry University. He is currently lecturer of International Tourism Management at the Faculty of Business and Law - School of Marketing and Management, Coventry University (UK). His academic work has been accompanied by over ten years of involvement in local, national and international projects – including European projects - within the field of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
