Brigida Corrieri

Biography

Brigida earned her B.A. with honours in Oriental History, Cultures and Civilization from University of Bologna, Italy (2009), her M.A. with honours in Archaeology of Egypt and Near/Middle East from University of Pisa, Italy (2012), and her MSc degree in Human Osteology and Funerary Archaeology from University of Sheffield, UK (2014), with a thesis entitled “Overweight and Obesity in the Past: an Attempt to Define the Diseases and the Pathological Conditions that May Lead to a Diagnosis of Obesity from Human Skeletal and Mummified Remains”. She published a handbook, in Italian, entitled "Sonno senza tempo. Mummie e corpi imbalsamati" (Felici Editore, 2013), focused on natural mummies and embalmed bodies. Brigida has also worked and volunteered as archaeologist and interpreter in Italy, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Israel.

Research Interest

Brigida’s current research project focuses on non-destructive analyses of fragmented and burned human and non-human skeletal remains in archaeological and forensic contexts, such as mass disasters, mass graves and crime scenes.
