Christopher Hemingway

Biography

Chris received a first-class honours degree in Computer Science and Management Studies, followed by a doctorate in Information Systems, from the University of Leeds. He is a member of the Institution for Electrical Engineers (IEE), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and the International Federation for Information Processing Working Group on Information Systems and the Organisation (IFIP WG8.2). His research has been presented at international conferences, including the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) and IFIP WG8.2, and published in academic journals, including the Journal of Information Technology. Chris also writes for practitioner audiences, with recent articles featuring in e-Business Review and Government IT. His current research project investigates the impact of data warehousing and analytics on decision-making roles and how it can be assessed using performance metrics for information use. One aspect of this research is to understand how managers' knowledge and experience influence their use of data analysis to support their decisions.

Research Interest

Chris's research focuses on the use of information to improve management decision-making and organisational effectiveness. He is particularly interested in the role of technologies such as data warehouses and analytical software in changing how management decisions are made in large organisations.
