Biography
Overall, Michael has an applied, industry-led research perspective examining logistics and supply chain management issues via multi- and inter-disciplinary lenses. Subsequently, he has produced more than 170 publications (including 44 journal papers) and his work has appeared in leading supply chain management, marketing and business journals such as, inter alia, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, International Journal of Logistics: Research and Applications, International Journal of Logistics Management, Industrial Marketing Management, European Journal of Marketing, International Marketing Review, Journal of Marketing Management, Environment and Planning D and Technological Forecasting and Social Change. Michael has also secured (as a PI or Co-I) more than 20 research grants funded by various leading bodies including the European Union (FPVI, FPVII), EPSRC, Food Standards Agency (UK), Technology Strategy Board (UK) and Regional Development Agencies (UK). In 2013, he became a core member of a research team that successfully secured substantial funding from EPSRC (£12 million, 2013-2018) for a Centre on ""Sustainable Energy Use in Food Chains"". The Centre will be supported by 33 partners including seven major food manufacturers (e.g. Kraft, Heineken, Heinz) and four leading retail partners (e.g. Tesco, Waitrose, Marks and Spencer).
Research Interest
Michael is a logistics and supply chain management expert with particular interest in food and retail supply chains.
