John Innes

Biography

John is Referral Director, a role which involves overseeing the development of our specialist referral centres and working with the training team to develop clinical CPD programmes for General Practitioner (GP) and Advanced Veterinary Practitioners (AVPs). John is a RCVS-registered specialist in small animal orthopaedics and is currently the president of the European Society for Veterinary Orthopaedics. He was formerly professor of veterinary surgery at University of Liverpool where he developed the small animal specialist services and led research in canine arthritis. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed papers and authored several book chapters. John previously chaired the BSAVA Scientific Committee and has acted for RCVS in veterinary school accreditation. He enthusiastically maintains clinical activity in orthopaedics at Chester Gates Veterinary Specialists. Specialist referrals are a new area for CVS and there are many opportunities for growth and development. John enjoys the interaction with CVS staff in practices and offering them new services.
