Biography

David Hunter has been Professor of Health Policy and Management at Durham University since 2000 where he is director of the Centre for Public Policy and Health (CPPH) in the School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Health (www.dur.ac.uk/public.health), a Wolfson Fellow in the Wolfson Research Institute for Health and Wellbeing and Senior Fellow of Durham Global Policy Institute, Durham University. In 2014, the CPPH was designated a WHO Collaborating Centre on Complex Health Systems Research, Knowledge and Action and David is its director. CPPH is the only UK certified centre for Health in All Policies training having completed the WHO’s Trainers’ course in 2015. David is also Deputy Director of Fuse, the UKCRC Centre for Translational Research in Public Health, (www.fuse.ac.uk) and lead investigator for its complex systems research programme. He is a member of the executive group for the NIHR School for Public health Research (2012-2017). He undertakes research on aspects of public health policy and practice, including partnership working and health system transformation. He is Programme Chair for a range of national and local leadership programmes including those offered under the title Leading Transformation of Health and Wellbeing.
