Biography
lizabeth Adamson is an associate professor within the School of Health and Social Care at Napier University Edinburgh, Scotland. Her clinical research interests are enabling patients with long term conditions to live independently and compassionate person centred care. As part of this she leads the SOLUTION project which is a Medical Technology Programme of Development. The principle aim of the project is to find practical solutions to healthcare problems by utilising the multi-disciplinary experience and expertise available within Edinburgh Napier University. Key characteristics of the project are involvement of users in the design and development process, improved patient safety and improved quality of life for people with long term conditions. The SOLUTION work is also timely as it aligns with the Scottish Government’s anticipated outcomes for integration of health and social care. Two current projects are the development of an eye mediation device to assist patients who find getting eye drops in difficult, and a communication aid for patients who have experienced stroke. In addition to this Elizabeth has a strategic role as Academic Lead for Student Experience within the School which provides an opportunity to actively promote and facilitate excellence in student learning. She has 17 years of experience in education both within clinical practice and higher education. Her pedagogical research interests are assessment and feedback and student mobility
