Biography
Yvonne Hart studied medicine and trained in neurology in London before undertaking an epilepsy fellowship at the Montreal Neurological Institute. She was appointed consultant neurologist in 1994 and worked at Atkinson Morley’s Hospital, London, until 2000, when she moved to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, directing and developing the epilepsy and epilepsy surgery services in both these hospitals. In 2010 she moved to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne, where she was consultant neurologist until her recent retirement. She was a member of the Council of the Association of British Neurologists from 2008 to 2012, served as Secretary of the International League Against Epilepsy (UK chapter) from 2010 to 2013, and chaired the Scientific Awards Panel of Epilepsy Action from 2008 to 2013. Her research interests include the epidemiology of epilepsy, chronic encephalitis and epilepsy (Rasmussen syndrome) and antibody-mediated epilepsies. She is keenly interested in teaching and training and has written more than 25 book chapters.
