Biography
Anna M. Lawrence is Associate Professor of History at Fairfield University. She teaches women and gender in early America, religious history, transatlantic history and African American culture. She received her BA from Carleton College, and her MA and PhD from the University of Michigan. In 2010, the Lilly Endowment Young Scholars in American Religion Program selected her as an outstanding scholar. She is the author of One Family Under God: Love, Belonging, and Authority in Early Transatlantic Methodism (Philadelphia: University of Pennsylvania Press, 2011). Her current work focuses on the early African American female preacher, Jarena Lee.
