Biography
Matthew joined Falmouth University in 1998 as a student on BA(Hons) 3D Design, and has the distinction of being the first ever graduate from that degree. After graduating, he joined the University of Plymouth's Unlocking Cornish Potential (UCP) programme where he was placed with a local landscape design company based in Falmouth. During this one-year placement he was heavily involved in the redevelopments of both Lemon Quay in Truro and The Moor in Falmouth, creating a lot of the design elements and architectural plans seen today in both these public open spaces. He also worked on the redevelopment of Bodmin Hospital, The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital Haematology Unit garden and many private gardens for clients both in the UK and the Netherlands. Architectural work has always been an interest of Matthew's since a young age. Matthew enjoys experimenting with all things computer graphics and can regularly be found creating buildings, structures, images and animations. This is a passion he has enjoyed sharing with the students of Falmouth University since he started working here in 2002 as a senior technician/IT trainer. As well as teaching at Falmouth University, Matthew is a freelance designer/visualiser working within both the architectural and 2D web and print graphics fields. His most notable client being Hamleys of London, where he has been a member of the team for the last six years. Outside of work Matthew is a keen Cornish pilot gig rower. He rows/coxes for Falmouth Gig Club and has competed in World Championships on the Isles of Scilly on two occasions.
