Biography
Veronica (Nicky) Thomas, BSc, PhD DipN RGN, PGDipCouns, PGDipCBT, CPYSCHOL, started working here in November 1997. She has overall responsibility for all elements of the health psychology service (HPS) which she started in 1997. At the time, it was the first dedicated HPS for sickle cell patients in the UK. She is a lecturer in psychology for King's College London and she is also a British Psychological Society approved supervisor and trainer for health psychology stage 2 training. Nicky teaches on a number of doctorate clinical psychology and MSc health psychology courses, on communication and motivational interviewing skills for health care professionals. She also supervises psychology trainees. Nicky also helped to establish, and subsequently run, the British Psychology Society special interest group in sickle cell and thalassaemia.
