Andrew Muston
Director
Engineering
Hawkins Group
United Kingdom
Biography
On leaving university Andrew joined the Engineering Department of ICI, Teesside where he worked alongside an experienced group of colleagues covering a wide range of engineering disciplines. On joining Hawkins more than 25 years ago, he was trained to investigate fires and explosions, now concentrating on the engineering side of these events. He also focuses on process/chemical engineering and fire suppression problems and Health and Safety issues. While the latter has exposed him to an enormous range of topics, circumstances and safe and unsafe systems of work across a very broad engineering spectrum, the former has provided the most interesting cases intellectually. The satisfaction in quietly accumulating the available evidence and information, allied to its careful analysis and application of process engineering principles and experience to determine the cause of a problem, can be considerable.
