Biography
After completing a hospital-based pre-registration year, I worked as a community pharmacist for approximately ten years before returning to hospital pharmacy in a variety of clinical, management and education roles. I have also worked in primary care as a prescribing adviser and practice-based pharmacist. I qualified as an Independent Prescriber at Keele in 2007 and have used this qualification in both primary and secondary care. In 2009 I moved into academic pharmacy, where I have been involved in teaching on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including postgraduate independent prescribing courses for pharmacists.
Research Interest
In my research I focus on two growth factors produced by oocytes and which are essential for fertility in mammals, namely growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF9) and bone morphogenetic factor 15 (BMP15). These two proteins are members of the large transforming growth factor beta (TGF-b) family which share structural similarities and mechanisms of action.
