Biography

"Professor Saidov specialises in international commercial law, having joined The Dickson Poon School of Law in August 2015 as Professor of Commercial Law. He was previously based in the University of Birmingham, where he was Reader in Law (2013-2015), Senior Lecturer in Commercial Law (2009-2013) and Lecturer in Commercial Law (2004-2009). Professor Saidov holds PhD and LLM (with Distinction) degrees from the University of East Anglia and an LLB degree from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (Uzbekistan). His expertise lies in the law of the international sale of goods, international commercial law instruments, remedies for breach of contract and law governing international oil and gas operations. He has given lectures and taught courses in the National University of Singapore (where he was an MPA Visiting Professor in Maritime Law in August 2015), Diego Portales University (Chile), University of Navarro (Spain), International Training Centre of the ILO, (University of Turin/UNCITRAL (Italy)), University of World Economy and Diplomacy and Tashkent State Juridical Institute (Uzbekistan). Professor Saidov is currently a Reporter to the CISG Advisory Council (CISG-AC), the Editor of the English Sale of Goods Law section in the LMCLQ Yearbook of International Maritime and Commercial Law and an Academic Fellow at the Centre for Maritime Law in the National University of Singapore.  Within the School of Law, Professor Saidov is the Director of the online LLM programme in International Corporate & Commercial Law and Co-Director of the International Business Law LLM pathway."   "Professor Saidov specialises in international commercial law, having joined The Dickson Poon School of Law in August 2015 as Professor of Commercial Law. Research Interest

Professor Saidov’s research interests lie in the law of sale of goods, international commercial law instruments and law relating to international oil and gas operations. He has written extensively on various aspects of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, English law of sales,  remedies for breach of contract from international and comparative perspectives and the law of oil and gas. Professor Saidov is interested in supervising PhD students in any of these areas.
