Biography
Catarina Fouto studied Classics and Portuguese at the University of Lisbon, where she also obtained her MA in Medieval Studies. She obtained her DPhil in Renaissance Portuguese from Oxford. Her first academic post was at the University of Oxford, where she also co-directed the Instituto Camões Centre. Catarina took up a lectureship in Portuguese Studies at King's in 2011. Catarina Fouto is a member of the international research group Seminario de Poética Europea del Renacimiento, based at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, http://spr.uab.cat/. She is also a member of the editorial board of the journal Portuguese Studies, and serves Committee of the Centre for Early Modern Studies (CEMS). Medieval and early-modern periods, in particular: history of literary theory; history of the book & censorship; postcolonial and cultural studies.
