Biography

Ozlem joined The Dickson Poon School of Law in September 2016 as Reader of Insurance and Commercial Law. Previously, she taught at the Norwich and Southampton Law Schools. She published extensively in insurance and reinsurance law, the most recent of which are a chapter on property insurance for Insurance Disputes (by Informa, forthcoming) and the marine insurance chapter of Maritime Law (Routledge, forthcoming). Ozlem regularly presents her research at home and abroad. Most recently she delivered two papers at a conference in Perth - Australia in May 2017. She received the Vice-Chancellor Teaching Award by the University of Southampton in 2016 prior to joining King's College London. Ozlem is a member of the Presidential Council and the Reinsurance Working Party of International Insurance Law Association/Association Internationale de Droit des Assurances (AIDA).    Ozlem joined The Dickson Poon School of Law in September 2016 as Reader of Insurance and Commercial Law. Research Interest

Ozlem's research is focused on insurance and reinsurance law. Her PhD thesis 'Reinsuring Clauses' was published in 2010. She then published a student textbook on 'Marine Insurance Law' (2nd ed, 2016) and more recently, she updated the fifth edition of 'The Insurance of Commercial Risks: Law and Practice' (2016). Ozlem is currently writing a book chapter on 'The Insurance of Offshore Structures'. Following that she will start a research project on 'Motor Vehicle Insurance'. Ozlem is interested in supervising doctorates in any areas of insurance and reinsurance law.
