Biography

I am a novelist and an Associate Professor in Creative Writing. I am also the MA Course Director in Creative Writing. I have published five novels. My first four were crime novels, published by Pan Macmillan. My latest novel, Blackheath, was published by Myriad Editions in Spring 2016. My next novel, Underwater, is aimed at children and is the first of three that will be published by HarperCollins. It is due out in Spring 2018. My novels have been widely translated and adapted for BBC Radio 4. I hold a PhD from Brunel University, where I investigated representations of modern fatherhood in the contemporary novel.
