Biography
"Dr Ahmed Younis is an associate professor and director of the prescribing programme. Dr Younis originally graduated from Cairo University Medical School's Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Following graduation he gained clinical experience in Cairo, Egypt, then Saudi Arabia and Gaza, Palestine, before being offered a post as lecturer and later director of the physiotherapy and rehabilitation degree programme at Bethlehem University, Palestine. While in that post, Dr Younis carried out research towards his doctorate entitled 'Rehabilitation of Spinal Cord Injured People in Palestine', and set up the Palestinian Physiotherapy Association, becoming its first president. He moved to the UK to complete his studies with the University of Ulster, accepting a post as lecturer and later acting course director in the School of Health Sciences, Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, where he remained until his present post. His main teaching areas include: neurology; research methods and evidence-based practice; medical statistics and data analysis; and the development of blended and online learning (including courses in neurology and clinical skills for medical, physiotherapy and paramedic students). Research interests include interdisciplinary education; traumatic brain injury; stroke; prescribing; investigative research techniques (including identity structure analysis with Ipseus software); complementary medicine particularly cupping, including founding and presiding over the British Cupping Society; and supervising a PhD research examining its efficacy. He is currently completing a book on data analysis and interpretation of results using SPSS. Dr Younis is currently also Arab Vice-Chair of the Arab Jewish Forum, a House of Lords dialogue group, and a visiting professor at Bezmialem Vakif University in Istanbul, Turkey. "
Research Interest
Research interests include interdisciplinary education; traumatic brain injury; stroke; prescribing; investigative research techniques (including identity structure analysis with Ipseus software); complementary medicine particularly cupping, including founding and presiding over the British Cupping Society; and supervising a PhD research examining its efficacy. He is currently completing a book on data analysis and interpretation of results using SPSS.
