Research Interest
I am a disciplinary scholar who builds theory in the sociology of organizations. My research lies at the intersection of academic entrepreneurship and organization theory. I investigate the role of institutions on the diffusion of innovations by looking at the historical emergence of the UK spinoff industry. I also look at the social construction of markets, that is how legitimacy, reputation and status are constructed and how organizations benefit from these properties. I am also interested in how organizations compete and cooperate (coopete) at the same time under conditions of uncertainty.
