Biography
I came to Kingston University in 2013. Before then, and after completing my PhD, I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow on projects that examined the negotiation of religious, spiritual and cultural plurality in healthcare contexts at Trinity Western University (Canada), and investigated Canadian families' food practices led by scholars at University of British Columbia and Dalhousie University. My research interests are in the sociology of religion, religion in healthcare, gender, race, sexuality and religion, feminist and qualitative research methods and the arts in pedagogic practice. As an educator, my approach to teaching is research-led and aims for an inclusive curriculum. I am also keen to bring sociology 'alive' through cross-disciplinary learning and teaching with students and colleagues from sociology and the arts disciplines such as drama, dance, music and television.
