Biography
I qualified as a doctor in 1985, and subsequently trained as a GP. After 8 years in practice I decided to return to academic work, undertaking a Masters in Applied Social Research followed by a PhD. My PhD research focused upon the impact of National Service Framenworks in General Practcie, and took an organisational approach, focusing upon the nature of general practices as small organisations. My research has subsequently focused upon the impact of national health policy on primary care organisations, including individual practcies and Primary Care Trusts. I still work 2 days a week as a GP in a rural practice in Derbyshire.
