Biography
Phil is a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine based at the University Hospital of South Manchester with a special interest in lung cancer.
Research Interest
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer mortality in the world and the leading cause of premature death in Manchester. Reducing smoking rates and early detection are critically important to ensure outcomes for patients are optimised. My research interests include: 1. Early detection of lung cancer: including targeted, community-based, low dose CT screening. 2. Endobronchial ultrasound for the mediastinal staging of lung cancer. 3. The study of circulating biomarkers of lung cancer.
