Biography
Dr Anika Singanayagam is a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellow currently undertaking a PhD with Professor Wendy Barclay (Imperial College), co-supervised by Professor Maria Zambon (Public Health England). She is an Honorary Specialist Registrar in Infectious Diseases and General Internal Medicine at Imperial College NHS Trust. Anika graduated in Medicine from Oxford University in 2008. During this time she completed a BA (Hons) degree in Medical Sciences, specialising in Infection and Immunity. As a postgraduate, she completed general medical training in London and subsequently entered specialty training as an Academic Clinical Fellow in Infectious Diseases and General Internal Medicine. She is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians. Her postgraduate research investigates biological properties of the influenza virus haemagglutinin that impact on its ability to cause disease in infected people and spread in the community, including implications on our ability to control influenza using antiviral drugs and vaccines.
