Craig Ritchie

Biography

Craig Ritchie is a Senior Lecture in the Centre for Mental Health with an interest in the epidemiology of dementia and clinical trial methodologies. He has been chief or principal investigator on numerous intervention studies for dementia and mild cognitive impairment. This work has catalysed his current focus on improved stratification methods for neurodegenerative disease trials, improved outcomes and better statistical and delivery methodologies for single-centre and multi-centre trials. To support this work he leads the PREVENT study which seeks to identify and characterise mid-life risk for dementia and use this as a readiness cohort for trials of both disease modifying interventions as well as risk factor modification. He sits on the steering group of the UK Dementia Platform and also has a leading editorial role in the Cochrane Collaborations Dementia Groups DTA (Diagnostic Test Accuracy) work stream. He is also Research and Development Director at West London Mental Health Trust where he has overseen the design and delivery of a research strategy to break down barriers in terms of research delivery and participation between the academic, the patient and the clinician.
