Biography
Im a second year PhD student in the Centre for Neuropsychopharmacology, investigating resting state networks in substance dependent clinical populations under the supervision of Dr John McGonigle and Prof Anne Lingford-Hughes. Resting state networks are defined by robust correlations of slow, spatially coherent BOLD signal, which may reflect functionally relevant interactions between spatially distributed brain regions. I'm specifically interested in resting state network models of phenotypic traits relevant to substance dependence (anxiety, depression, impulsivity), cumulative damage (lifetime consumption, years of use), pharmacological modulation (DRD3, NK1, μ-opioid antagonism) and vulnerability to relapse. I'm a member of ICCAM, a multi-site neuroimaging study investigating putative compounds for relapse prevention. My studies at Imperial College are funded by an MRC DTP Studentship. My background includes an MSc in Neuroscience (University College London) and a BSc in Psychology (University of Bath) with a placement year (Harvard University).
