Biography
Dr Fu Siong Ng is a Clinical Lecturer in Cardiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute and a Consultant Cardiologist. He currently conducts research into arrhythmogenic mechanisms at Imperial College London, alongside clinical work in cardiac electrophysiology and pacing at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Ng is Associate Director of the ElectroCardioMaths Programme. Dr Ng studied Medicine at St. George’s, University of London between 1997 and 2003. He was awarded a First Class (Honours) BSc degree in Medical Sciences & Clinical Pharmacology, having ranked top in his year in multiple examinations, and then obtained Distinctions at his Final MBBS Examinations. Dr Ng was awarded his PhD by Imperial College London after conducting studies into the effects of gap junction modulation on myocardial structure and function in the laboratory of Prof Nicholas Peters, funded by an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship. He then proceeded to spend a period of post-doctoral research in the USA, in the laboratory of Prof Igor Efimov at Washington University in Saint Louis, conducting optical mapping experiments on explanted human hearts, funded by a BHF Travel Fellowship.
