Biography
Gordon is a software engineer for the Division of Computational Systems Medicine, where he develops research applications, maintains IT systems and provide advice for researchers and the wider research community. With over 7 years of industry software development and systems administration experience, he has a wide knowledge base covering multiple programming languages, databases and operating systems, believing in the principle of using the best tool for the job - whatever that may be. Alongside these technologies he has industrial experience in UI design, agile methodology, testing, scaling, optimisation, version control, deployment and disaster recovery, and strongly advocates using these techniques to improve the long term effectiveness and stability of research software. Gordon received a BSc (Hons) in Biomolecular Science from Kings College London in 2007, an MSc in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology from Birkbeck College in 2009, and a Diploma in Statistics from the Open University in 2013.
