Biography
Gwen is a Career Development Fellow at the Health Protection Research Unit in Healthcare Associated Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance. The HPRU is a partnership between Imperial College London, Public Health England, Cambridge University Veterinary School, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and Imperial College Health Partners North West London Academic Health Science Network. The Unit was funded, along with 12 others in priority areas from immunisation to radiation hazards, to bring Universities to work in partnership with Public Health England to support excellent health protection research relevant to the needs of Public Health England. Prior to this, Gwen worked as a Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine as part of the TB Modelling Group. Her work there investigated the impact of existing and potential interventions to control TB disease at the population level. She also worked on projects exploring the impact of antibiotic resistance on the fitness of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Gwen has a PhD from UCL investigating the spread of antibiotic resistance within the hospital associated pathogen methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus
