Biography
Isabelle Leclerc is Senior Clinical Lecturer in Diabetes & Endocrinology, Section of Cell Biology, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London and Honorary Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology, St-Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London, UK. She trained as a clinician at the University of Montreal in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and Metabolism and as a scientist at the University Rene Descartes in Paris where she obtained a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology. Her research focuses on pancreatic islet beta-cell dysfunction in type 2 diabetes. Her principal interest is beta-cell compensation during the early stages of insulin resistance and subsequent alterations in gene expression and signalling that eventually lead to beta-cell failure and overt diabetes.
